Berlinale: The Night Manager (2016)

February 18, 2016:

The Night Manager had its red carpet debut at the Berlin International Film Festival, better known as Berlinale. Stars Tom Hiddleston, Hugh Laurie, Elizabeth Debicki, Tom Hollander, Amir El-Masry were on hand to present the film, along with director Susanne Bier and writer John Le Carre.

The big three. Literally. Both Tom and Hugh are 6'2, while Elizabeth is an actual goddess at 6'3.

Tom and Susanne always have the best time together.

Tom Hiddleston said that he was "very proud to be presenting The Night Manager" at the Berlinale. This was Tom's first time attending this event but he had traveled to Germany before while promoting The Avengers, Thor: The Dark World, and Crimson PeakOnly Lovers Left Alive also filmed scenes in Germany.

He was also asked about the difference between making films and making a television show:

"My job is the same - which is to trying and play my character with truthfulness and commitment. The only difference is that the audience have more time. We have six hours to tell the same story as opposed to two hours. I think with the particular story, The Night Manager, that's been very appropriate because the story can really take six hours. It has many twist and turns. There's a lot of sophistication and subtlety... I honestly think that actors make less of a distinction between movies and television. I know to the audience it must feel very different. But actually for us - we turn up on set, we get into character, and we do the work. It feels like the same thing... "

After the screening, the cast came onstage for a Q&A session with the audience.

Hugh Laurie was Hugh-larious.

Berlinale later released several photoshoot pictures.

Prior to the red carpet. Tom Hiddleston had sat down for several press interviews. This one with Ward Verrijcken always stands out because every day people are still commenting complaining about how Tom isn't very active on social media.

"I have a twitter account. I don't use it as much as I used to. (Too many trolls) There are a few, yeah. But honestly, it's a distraction. I feel as though the most important thing is my work. And all of that stuff can be distracting. I'm a fan of rather than declaring my opinions in 140 characters, I would rather think about something with more rigor and nuance and put it into a piece of work."

Fashion:

On the red carpet Tom Hiddleston was wearing his Ralph Lauren Polo suit and geometric tie. For the photo shoot + interveiws Tom was wearing his Reiss Porto coat, Ralph Lauren merino wool sweater. Ariat Roper boots, and Mykita Kaya glasses.
