BAFTA Rising Stars Announcement (2012)

January 11, 2012:

The nominees for the BAFTA Rising Star Award were announced in London. This award recognizes new talent and is the only BAFTA award voted on by fans. The five nominees for 2012 were Adam Deacon, Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Chris O'Dowd, and Eddie Redmayne. Adam, Tom, and Eddie were all at the event to hear their names being announced (they were told of their nominations the day before).  To date, this is Tom's only BAFTA nomination.

Tom had a very thoughtful answer when asked about what this nomination meant to him: Truly, I can't believe that I'm in this room. I can't believe I'm sitting in front you now. It's amazing because it's not an easy business and it's very competitive. There are many people in it that want to succeed. There was awhile back there where it wasn't going so well. I wasn't getting the jobs. I was going up for them and working really hard - with no seeming results.

Tom and Eddie teased at a fight between their fans; the Hiddlestoners and the Redmaniacs.

Tom also talked about how it felt to be nominated against his brother from another mother, Chris Hemsworth.

Surprisingly, it was Adam Deacon who ultimately took home the award. Adam has had quite the journey since his win.

Fashion:

Tom looked fantastic in Armani. (I wish he had worn this coat more)
